The Westman Islands (Vestmannaeyjar) are a tiny archipelago in the south of Iceland. It consists of one large inhabited island, Heimaey, measuring 13.4 km, where about 4,200 people live, and another 14 uninhabited islets. The proud part of Vestmannaeyjar is also considered to be about 30 rocks and cliffs.

What to expect:

• We will pay tribute to the extinct volcano and go to Mount Eldfell, which offers an excellent view not only of the Westman Islands, but also of the well-known Eyjafjallajökull volcano on the "mainland".
• To complete the picture, we will visit a museum dedicated to the history of the 1973 eruption on the islands.
• We will see the "elephant" cliff descending into foamy waters, and sea caves.
• We will go to a nature reserve with rescued beluga whales from the Shanghai Water Park.

We've been to many geothermal areas in Iceland. But trekking in the Kerlingarfjöll area is our favorite.

Kerlingarfjöll is a huge mountain range that ranges from 6 to 700 meters above sea level, located between two glaciers, Langjökull and Hofsjökull, the second and third largest glaciers in Iceland.

In the steaming geothermal valley of Hveradalir, you'll find solfataras and mud pots galore, the whole area boiling and hissing. There are several trails through the geothermal area, and both long and short hikes are possible.
